LUNGS OF OUR PLANET ARE BURNING AND TURNING INTO ASHES. and it’s been happening for 16 days now ‼️ how come last night was the very first time i’ve heard of this??? and many of you did just as i posted it on my stories? the only media i saw posting about it was BBC just this morning. why it’s taken so long? Amazonia is the largest rainforest on our planet, it: • creates 20% of the air we breathe • has 40% of the worlds tropical forest • holds 20% of the worlds fresh water supply • has 10% of the worlds species • has 40 000 of plants species • 3 000 edible fruit besides that - there are more than 430 species of mammals, millions species of insects in there, all of them are dying and no one is doing anything about it. as far as i’ve been researching over the last hours the most heartbreaking and saddening thing about all of this is the fact that this fire 99% wasn’t due to the climate change, it was intentional. approved by the brazilian government in order to “create land” for farm fields. we know that money unfortunately rules this world, but this is unacceptable... profits over the planet. my heart is broken. remember when the Notre Dame was burning? people donated over $1 BILLION in 24h. and i get it. that was heartbreaking for me as well. if you’ve been there you know. but this... i’m literally lacking in words. Rekordszámú erdőtűz sújtja a térséget: 72 843 tüzet észlelt idén az Amazonas vidékén a térség őserdeit megfigyelő Brazil Nemzeti Űrkutatási Intézet (INPE). Ez 83 százalékkal több, mint amennyit 2018 azonos időszakában jegyeztek fel, és a legmagasabb szám 2013 óta.

Roraima északi szövetségi államot sötét füst borítja. Az állam déli részén már szükségállapotot hirdettek, és fővárosában, Manausban környezetvédelmi riadókészültséget rendeltek el augusztus 9-én a tüzek miatt.

Az erdőtüzek nem ritkák a száraz időszakban, de a gazdák szándékosan is felgyújtanak erdőterületeket, hogy illegálisan irtsák a fát legelők létrehozása céljából. Az erdőtüzek számának példátlan növekedését azóta észlelték, hogy januárban hivatalába lépett Jair Bolsonaro új köztársasági elnök, aki meghirdette az Amazonas vidékének mezőgazdasági és bányászati célú fejlesztését.

A most zajló extrém tűzről a NASA is készített felvételeket, igaz, még korábban: augusztus 11 és 13 között. Azóta sajnos nem lett kisebb a probléma.
